Bridesmaid Boxes!

Part of planning a wedding is having your best girlfriends by your side on your big day.. For years I have seen pictures on Pinterest of different ways people asked someone to be their bridesmaid. I have always known I wanted to do something similar to the things I had seen, but put my own twist on it. This is what I came up with..

A few weeks back B went shed hunting with his friend Bodey so I stayed home and worked on wedding stuff. During that weekend I put together my bridesmaid boxes. Each of my girls got a fun little box mailed to them, dropped off on their porch, or delivered to their work.

Here is what was in each of my boxes..

Color Swatches - I went to my local paint store and got color swatch papers of all of my wedding colors. Seven of each color, one set for each bridesmaid and one for myself.

Nail Polish - Who doesn't want hot sparkly pink toes for spring and summer? (:

Notebook + Pen - For all of the little notes they will write down throughout the next 5 months (ie; appointments, dress measurements, important stuff, etc.)

Ring pop - My turn to pop the question now!

Watermelon gum - My absolute favorite gum, its even sugar free too!

A paper cutout with all the important dates, so far!

My favorite homemade body scrub - 1 1/2 to 2 part sugar, 1 part olive oil, baker coloring to give the pink hue, and a few drops of my favorite doTERRA Essential Oil, Serenity + Wild Orange.

Each package had tissue stuffing, white and pink confetti, a personal homemade card, topped with a sparkly gold bow! They turned out adorable, and my girls loved them! I could not be more excited to have these six wonderful ladies by my side on the most important day of my life.

This wedding planning stuff has been so fun and easy so far, knock on wood. Can July 17th just come sooner? (;

Our Proposal Story.

About a week before it happened we were over at B's grandparents for a family dinner. His sister Shantell told us that she was going down to St George with her husband, Clancy, and their friend Nate the upcoming weekend. They said they were going down to see Nate's girlfriend that lives down there because Clancy got a few days off work over that weekend. She invited us to go with them and B said he would watch the weather to make sure it wasn't supposed to snow and that we'd let them know. Side note - for those of you who don't know B, he does snow removal in the winter so when it snows he goes. I had a dreadfully slow week at work so all I could think about was going to St George over the weekend. Come Wednesday B said it was supposed to snow, so we told his sister that we weren't going to be able to come down, and that we would let them know if anything changed.

During this slow week of mine I was approached by another company for job opening they thought I would do really good at. They offered me the job on Thursday and told me I needed to decide by the following Monday, the 23rd of February. Nuts! All day Thursday and Friday I was all depressed that we weren't going to be able to get out of town, while also stressing about what I was going to do with that job offer. I kept questioning the risk, what I would do if I accepted it and things didn't work out, what if I couldn't learn everything they needed me to before there busy season, etc. After talking with B and my family on Thursday night I started seeing the good that could come out of the job, and hey with an offer that good - how can you turn it down?! Friday at work I put in my two weeks with doTERRA, and told the other company, Pro Look Sports that I could start the following Monday, March 2nd. Crazy life change in a matter of hours right?!

Friday at work B called me around 4:30 and told me to pack my bags, we were going to St George! Wahoo!!! As I am leaving work he asked me if I wanted to run to the Hunting Expo really fast before it closed. We met up at 5:00, got some In-N-Out to go, and went up to the convention center in SLC. We saw his friend Bodey and his fiancĂ© Jacee up there and I got to love on their baby Rowan for a good hour. This is rare, because hardly any babies like me haha. That sounds bad, but it’s so true, they just cry when I hold them usually. We left the expo, and went home to pack our bags and watch an episode of Dexter.

Super early the next morning, Saturday March 21st, we went and grabbed a coffee at our favorite local coffee joint and headed down to St George. We met up with his sister, her husband, and Nate for some breakfast at a little 'hole-in-the-wall' restaurant, Bear Paw. At breakfast we were deciding what we wanted to do that day and it was between either going to the Lava Caves or Kanarraville Falls. The weather was decent, not warm but a little stormy so we decided to go with the hike to the waterfall.

On the drive there, about 45 minutes from St George, we were all talking and reading reviews of the hike. We knew the water was going to be on the cold side, but we didn't expect it to be as cold as it was or to have parts with snow still haha! Now let me tell you firsthand how unprepared we were...I'm talking Nikes, tiny thin socks, thin Nike leggings, tank top, and a light jacket - B was in shorts! We were crazy. As we are hiking on the path/trail part we keep seeing groups come down freezing, and at least one person has a gnarly cut/scrape. It kind of freaked all of us out, but we kept pushing along.

(First waterfall)

We got to the first waterfall, which is the one you see in everyone's pictures or when you Google it. Climbed up this sketchy ladder, took some pictures, and KEPT GOING. Yes, I was kind of getting frustrated and cold by this point. We get to the second waterfall, take some more pictures, and KEEP GOING…again! At this point I admit, I was getting kind of pissy. On our way to the third waterfall we had to go through this point where you were in water to mid-thigh, it was FREEZING! Nate slipped at one point and hit his shin really hard on a slippery rock, hence everyone's cut/scrapes haha. We get to the third waterfall, take some pictures, and finally head back down. Now I’m talking run/jogging back down because we are all so cold and couldn't feel our feet anymore.

(Third waterfall)

We get back down to the second waterfall and the boys start goofing off in the water/boulder area. I am literally like dancing to keep warm on the side by Brayden's sister. After a few minutes, I am saying 'let's go guys!' and his sister keeps asking me, 'don't you want to get a few pictures with B?' and all I would respond with is 'we got some on the way up, so I think we're good!'. After many countless tries, she finally just tells me to go take a freaking picture. Now at this point I was still clueless, in my head I was like oh if I go take a picture they will let me go back to the car haha. I go up to the rock area and stand by B and..........

(Me still clueless haha)

(Me chanting finally!!)

(B being the goofy kid he is, pushes me in the waterfall after haha!)

We are getting married on July 17th 2015! Wahoo, finally! If your lucky, I'll post the video of the proposal when I get some free time. Let the chaos begin! (:

$10 - Paint Stick Mirror

Over the weekend B went on a shed hunting trip with his friend Bodey so I decided to go on a crafting frenzy Friday night through Saturday morning. Here is one of the projects I made!

Total side note - me and my cute friend Jacee (who is Bodey's fiance) went to dinner and saw the movie The Loft Saturday night. Can I just say WHAT THE HECK! Dinner was great, we ate at Rumbi Grill, but the movie was so weird. It was -okay- and definitely entertaining don't get me wrong, but it was so strange. Kind of like going to Gone Girl without reading the books.. We both left the movie and were like um... what? Haha!
I purchased this circular mirror, which is about 8" in circumference, from Michaels Crafts for $3. I had a box lying around that I used to cut into two same size circles. I hot glued the two cardboard circles together to use as my base. I decided to use two because it was a little bit sturdier, but totally up to you!
I got 50 paint sticks for FREE from my local Walmart. I went to Home Depot first to get them, but they wanted to charge me  $0.20 a stick which was stupid because everywhere else gives them out free. Walmart did not care at all, they even helped me count them out and put them in a bag for me haha! I laid them out on butcher paper, purchased at the dollar store, in my garage.

I than sprayed one coat of this Rust-Oleum Metallic gold spray paint and let them dry for about 15 minutes. I grabbed one stick to do a tester sample to see if I wanted to do 1 or two coats. After seeing the sample stick dry I decided to go with two coats. I sprayed the second coat and let them dry for about 15 more minutes. The sun was directly on mine which made them dry so fast!
I counted out 25 sticks (1/2 of what I have) and took a heavy duty scissor and cut right before the handle grooves. Which I'll be honest - totally sucked!! I highly recommend using like a electric saw to cut these. Scissors suck even if the wood is super thin!
I set out the 25 longer sticks evenly spaced apart with grooves in the center on the very edges of the cardboard base. I than picked them up one at a time and started hot gluing them onto the cardboard.
Once they were all glued on I went around and filled in any gaps with hot glue. I did this to make sure everything was securely on the cardboard.
Once that hot glue had dried I went and laid out my shorter sticks on top of the long sticks. Once they were all laid out how I wanted them to be I would put some hot glue on the end of the stick and push it down to the card board. I wanted my shorter sticks to kind of stick out to give it dimension so while pushing the inside down I held the outside above the long sticks about a finger in width. Once all of the shorter sticks were done I went through and filled in any gaps with hot glue, just like the long stick layer. I let that sit for a few minutes to dry and than glued the mirror on the top of the sick layers.
This mirror was relatively easy to make and will look so cute hung up in my house! All together with supplies it costed $10 - CRAZY CHEAP and CUTE!
